How to Have the Perfect Country Wedding
Country weddings are a classic theme that is timeless and elegant when done well. The line between country and rustic is a fine one however, so if you’re going for the perfect English Country vibe you want to make sure you’re more Downton Abbey than Little House on the Prairie.
Country Wedding Venues
Picking the perfect venue is the key to setting the tone of the entire event. You need somewhere with the elegance and sophistication of a historic country house, or at the very least a venue with a large enough outdoor space for a marquee.
Do you go for a stately home with the ceremony on site, and roaring fires in the winter? Or a converted barn in the summer with plenty of outdoor space for lawn games and over 100 guests?
These are the decisions that will then guide you through the rest of your planning process, once you have the venue and date set you can begin the planning for all the other aspects of the day.
Country Wedding Attire
When it comes to the attire the bride will obviously look stunning in a white dress that flatters their body shape, but for the men there are a few things to take into consideration.
If you have Scottish ancestry a kilt is a perfect outfit choice for the males, with the family tartan and what better buttonhole to set it off than a Wendy Goode Original feather buttonhole? There are a wide range of ones available on my website, or I would be happy to create something especially for you.
To ensure continuity throughout the day, I am also able to make fascinators for the Mother of the Groom, or other guests, on request.
A rich warm colour palette for the colour scheme would work perfectly with tartan and feathers. Imagine bridesmaids in a royal blue, or a burgundy. Perfection!
Country Wedding Stationery
The wedding stationery is the first part of your wedding your guests will see so it’s important to set the tone for the event with the save the date.
You want to make sure that you’re choosing good quality card, and your colour scheme is already decided upon so that the tones will be coordinated the whole way through.
A classic choice of invite goes well with a country theme, anything too modern will detract from the venue and the other choices you make in the day, and you’re aiming for elegance and timelessness rather than quirkiness.
We love nothing more than working with Brides and Grooms on their wedding feathers, so if you would like to have your own perfect Country Wedding buttonholes please do get in touch and we’ll work with you on something that will last a lifetime.
